At Common Ground we are excited to be a catalyst for generous service in and with the outdoor community of Central Oregon. That’s why, at least once every month, we get out and serve together, either supporting other fantastic local entities and events, or by initiating our very own opportunities to give back. Spring Thing Service Day at Smith Rock State Park

Common Ground is excited to spend the morning as a community serving along side hundreds of fellow Central Oregonians at the annual Spring Thing event at Smith Rock State Park. This event is put on by the Smith Rock Group - a non-profit who’s mission is “To organize and encourage visitor responsibility of the Smith Rock area and promote the preservation and restoration of the region’s unique resources through public involvement and education.” To learn more about the Smith Rock Group and this particular event, check out www.smithrockgroup.org.

A specific trail-maintanence and enhancement project is being blocked out by the event for our Common Ground community. We’ll be helping to make some stairs and level out the trail at near Smith Rock’s camping area and a bouldering zone. This service project will take place instead of meeting in our regular LifeGroups this particular weekend, so come on out and join us. Tour of Meissner Cross Country Ski Race

We are excited to be partnering again with the leaders of the Tour of Meissner cross country ski race on Sunday, January 21, 2024. For those that didn’t race or volunteer last year, the event is a 17 km and 30 km classic Nordic ski race at Virginia Meissner Sno-Park right outside of Bend. Last year’s tour saw about 150 skiers hitting the trails. Common Ground plans to provide food for the hungry skiers, as well as medical, time keeping, and course setup/take down services. It is a blast volunteering out in the snow, cheering on racers, and connecting with more of the Central Oregon community.

  • All of our service events will take place throughout Central Oregon. We serve when we can in the Bend, Redmond, La Pine, Tumalo, Sisters, Terrebonne, and Sunriver areas.

  • Every service event is unique so we will post details on each signup page.
